Dallas Taylor, of Wartburg, TN

Dallas Everett Taylor died on March 17, 2017. He was born on January 6, 1939 at the Cumberland Homesteads, near Crossville, TN.

He joined the Air Force in 1956 and served until receiving his honorable discharge in 1964.  Between his first and second term he attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina. After leaving the Air Force he attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, where he met his future wife, Linda Hennessee of Morgan County. He later studied at the University of Tennessee earning a degree in Industrial Education in 1970.

Dallas worked at many locations as an electrician. Over the years he worked at Y-12, the Alaska pipeline, the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, the Cooper Nuclear plant in Nebraska and also served in the reserves, and various TVA locations including Douglas Dam, Sequoyah Fontana, Watts bar, Bull Run, and many Switchyards. He retired from TVA in 2006 due to health problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Suthard Taylor of the Woody community near Crossville and Margaret Lucille Kerly of Sequatchie Valley. He is also preceded by one brother, Thomas David, 4 sisters, Ruth Dyer, Louise Woodall, Doris Tucked and Brenda and 2 nephews, Gregory and Jeffrey.

He is survived by his wife, Linda and 2 sons, Brett Taylor, Bryan and wife, Amber; 4 sisters, Betty, Patricia (Pat), Linda Elliot and husband, Dudley and Sharon; 3 brothers, Ernest and wife, Mollie, Thomas (Tommy) and John and wife, Peggy, as well as 7 nieces, 8 nephews, several grand-nieces and grand-nephews and many relatives in the Woody Community and elsewhere.

Dallas was raised in the Baptist faith. In Wartburg he attended services at Calvary Baptist, First Baptist and St. Pauls Lutheran.

In his retirement years Dallas was a familiar figure in Wartburg where he was frequently seen driving to town in a pickup truck with his faithful dog Daley. He was also fond of his cat Gary. He is remembered by many friends and locals for his sense of humor and he will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the funeral to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor David Graves officiating.
