Cordice Lowe

Mr. Cordice Louie Lowe, age 80 of Devonia, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, was a member of Free Communion Baptist Church, a retired coal mine foreman, and a graduate of Chilhowie Baptist Academy in Maryville. Mr. Lowe loved the mountains and gardening. He took produce to the Farmers Market in Oak Ridge and made many friends there. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and ginsenging. Most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of all of them, often counting all his grandchildren and great, grandchildren. He loved the holidays when his large family would gather at the Lowe home place. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Bunch Lowe; father, Cordice Lowe; son, C. Louie (Butch) Lowe, Jr.; and sisters: Glenna Mae Daugherty and Judy Williams.

He is survived by his wife: Maggie Joyce McPeters Lowe; daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and Bill Curran of Cookeville, Beverly Joan and Eddie Anderson of Cookeville, Gloria Jean Roberts of Oak Ridge, and Darlene and Dickie Hite of Devonia; daughter-in-law: Robbie Lowe of Lake City; grandchildren: Jason and Justin Lowe, Jeremy Howard, Jennifer Maxwell, Julie Muse, Jessica Anderson, Jeff Jones, Joy Bunch, Bobby Joe Jones, John Hite, Jodi Phillips, and Jerica Hite; twelve great, grandchildren; sisters: Delores Marlow, Rita Harris, and Joy Daniels.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Free Communion Baptist Church, Devonia with grandsons, Rev. Jason Lowe and Dr. Jeremy Howard officiating and special words by grandson, Justin Lowe. Mr. Lowe will be at the church one hour in advance. Interment will follow in the Lowe Cemetery.
