Charles Edward "Charlie" Jones, Sr. of Deer Lodge

Charles E. “Charlie” Jones, age 70 passed away May 29, 2017 at his home in Deer Lodge after a 2 year bout with cancer surrounded by family and friends.  He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.  He was a member of Deer Lodge First Baptist Church.  He was an original member of the Deer Lodge Volunteer Fire Dept.  He also worked with the Deer Lodge Abner Ross Memorial Center and Deer Lodge Historical Center.  He enjoyed carrying the flag in the July 4th Parade for many years.  He also enjoyed giving train rides to children in the parade.

He was preceded in death by his parents Estel and Ethel Henry Jones, one son Eric Len Jones, and brothers, Carl, Carlos and Jr. Jones. Sister-in-laws Freda Jones and Phyllis Owens.  Father and Mother-in-law Curtis and Beulah Owens. Brother-in-law Duane Scott.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Shirley Owens Jones

Sons:  Charles Edward (Eddie) & wife Jolene Jones

Dirk (friend Rhonda) Jones.

Granddaughters:  Samantha & Kimberly Jones.

Step grandchildren:  Brittany Kennedy, Victoria Jones and Jaycee LaRue

Step great grandson:  Bentley Kennedy.

One Brother:  Chester (Azalee) Jones, Two Sisters:  Barbara (David) Goodman, Vickie (Tom) Swint.

Brother and sister-in-law:  Susie (Bill) Kries, Claudia Owens, Patty (Brad) Newport, Winford Owens, Allen (Misty) Owens.

Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews and other family members and friends who he loved very much.

The family will receive friends May 30, 2017 form 5-7pm Schubert Funeral Home Wartburg.  Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with Bro. David Goodman and Bro. Roy Langley officiating.  Graveside services will be Wednesday May 31, 2017, 11 am at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Deer Lodge, TN

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Flag Fund 202 S. Kingston St. Wartburg, TN  37887.  He helped place flags on graves of veteran for many years in Morgan County.
