Charles Edward (C.E.) Whaley Jr., of Harriman, TN, passed away July 4, 2012. He was born May 26, 1926 in Blue Diamond, KY. He grew up in Coalfield, TN and was a resident of Harriman, TN his entire adult life until 2011 when he moved to live with his daughter Charlene till his death.
A veteran of WW II, C.E. was a Sergeant in the Army serving in Germany and the European theatre. C.E. Whaley was known throughout the area for his skilled craftsmanship in upholstery of furniture and antiques. He operated Whaley's Upholstery Shop in Harriman for over 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was preceded in death by his Father: Charles Edward Whaley, Mother: Vivian Whaley, Brother: Garland Whaley and Sister: Joyce Layne.
He is survived by Four Daughters: Shirley and husband Tom Thacker of St. Johns, Fl., Charlene and husband Tim Hammond of Oak Ridge, TN., Tina and husband
Keith Mann of Ft. Walton Beach, FL., Kathy and husband Major Chad Sitzmann of Hickam AFB, Hawaii.
Son: Darrell Whaley and wife Rita of Atlanta, GA.
15 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00PM with Bro. Jim Disney officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery, Coalfield.
