Charlene McGill Morgan, 87, went to be with her Heavenly Father, January 28, 2015, in El Paso, Texas, after a long and courageous struggle with dementia. Mrs. Morgan was born on July 11, 1927 in Oakdale, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Oma McGill. She graduated from Oakdale High School in 1945 where she was noted in the yearbook as "The girl who had read every book in the library... twice". After marrying Boyd Earl Morgan in 1949 and living in Oakdale for 11 years, they moved to Macon, Georgia in 1960 where she resided until 2012. Mrs. Morgan was a strong Christian who set an example for her family to follow. While living in Macon, Mrs. Morgan devoted her life to caring for children in her church, Pine Forest Baptist, and in her home. She loved and cared for every child she met in the nursery of Pine Forest for 20 years, and she continued this love in the nursery of West Highland Baptist Church, also in Macon, for 10 years. Mrs. Morgan was a breast cancer survivor of 27 years. Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, and by her siblings, Jimmie McGill of Oakdale, Tennessee and Peggy Barr of Rockwood, Tennessee.
She is survived by her daughter: Linda G. Morgan of Macon, Georgia and her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Morgan Haberkamp and Robert Haberkamp Jr. of El Paso Texas
Grandson: Robert Haberkamp III (Lori)
Great Grand-children: Kate, 5, and Robert IV, 2, of The Woodlands, Texas
Mrs. Morgan enjoyed Bible Study, family, friends, children, books and sightseeing with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved to read and found it to be one of the greatest pleasures of her life.
Mrs. Morgan will be dearly missed but her family finds comfort in knowing that her suffering is over and that she is "safe" in the arms of Jesus.
Many thanks to VNA Hospice, Gentiva Hospice, and to Loving Hands Foster Home all of El Paso who provided invaluable services and care for Mrs. Morgan.
Visitation for Mrs. Morgan will be held on February 28, 2015 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg, Tennessee. Graveside Services will follow with Bro. Charles Kelley officiating at Crab Orchard Baptist Church, Oakdale, Tennessee where she will be laid to rest with her other family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Mrs. Morgan's memory are requested.
