Mrs. Brenda Joyce Cromwell Smith, age 75, of Orange Park, Florida passed away at her home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was born on December 9, 1945, in Oneida, Tennessee, to Fred Earl and Lois Emma (Olmstead) Cromwell. She called Orange Park, Florida home for the past 15 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister with a heart for Christ. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School, served as Missionary President, Church Treasurer, worked Vacation Bible School, and worked at the Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City. She was a member of Orange Park Church of the Nazarene in Florida at the time of her death. Brenda studied at Tennessee Tech, Belmont, and Trevecca, earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She was a registered nurse and held various nursing positions over her 50 year career. She lastly served as the school nurse at Wayman Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. While living in Tennessee, she worked at Superior Home Health Care, taught Health Occupations at the Morgan County Career and Technical Center, and worked as an RN at Methodist Medical Center Hospital in Oak Ridge and Baptist Hospital in Nashville. She attended the Nazarene churches in Wartburg, Lenoir City, and Goodlettsville with her family.
Preceding her in death are her father and mother, Fred and Lois Cromwell; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Ruth Smith; brother-in-law, Quenton Henry; sister-in-law, Kathy Mock; nephews, Jason and Kyle; nieces, Megan, Emily, and Debbie; good friend, Geneva Bostic; and numerous other relatives.
Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Timothy W. Smith of Orange Park; daughters, Tiffany Dawn Smith and Kimberly R. Smith both of Orange Park; brothers, Leroy Cromwell (Carole), Jimmy Cromwell (Sherry), and Wayne Cromwell (Etta), all of Burrville, Tennessee: sister, Mary Lou Henry of Wartburg, Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Nancy Mainesmith, Chip and Kay Smith, Becky Weatherford, and Monroe Mock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves behind three cats, Mia, Sebastian, and Leo who provided comfort throughout.
Memorial Services in Florida will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Orange Park Church of the Nazarene, 3212 Moody Road, Orange Park, Florida 32065. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorial Services in Tennessee will be held from 2:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene, 3196 Rugby Pike, Jamestown, Tennessee 38556. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
