Barbara Jean Stringfield, age 74 of Fairview, Tennessee was welcomed into the Lord's House on October 12, 2011. Barbara was surrounded at her home by her loving family as she slipped away peacefully to be with Jesus and her heavenly family in eternal rest. Barbara was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. Barbara had endured a lengthy 5-year battle with Alzheimer's disease that began at an all too early age of 69.

Barbara Jean was born on March 18, 1937 in her family home at Sunbright in East Tennessee. She was the fourth of six children born to James Albert and Vadie Fairchild. She also had seven brothers and sisters form her parents' prior marriages. Barbara was married to her childhood sweetheart Tommy Stringfield at her parent's home in Sunbright on May 4, 1955. She and Tommy had a long and love filled married life of 56 years during which they were blessed with the birth of 3 children, 2 grand children and 2 great-grandchildren.

During her life Barbara had a successfully professional career beginning as a bank teller in her hometown of Sunbright before moving briefly to Nashville in the mid-seventies where she was a administrative assistant to the vice-president of the former First American Bank. She returned to Sunbright where she became a loan officer and eventually the bank branch manager of the former People's Bank and Trust of Sunbright. Barbara also worked for a period of time as the assistant-manager of the former Big John's IGA grocery store in her home town of Sunbright.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents James Albert and Vaide Fairchild; a newborn son Thomas Edward Stringfield, Jr; five brothers : Elmer Lee Douglas; Ocie Samuel Fairchild; Allard Fairchild; Ted Fairchild; Monte (Bee) Fairchild; and three sisters Inda June Jacobs; Ruby-Jean Uribe; and Pauline Goodman.

She is survived by her loving husband Tommy Stringfield; daughter Teresa LaRue; son Tim Stringfield; grandson Chris Stewart; granddaughter April Durham-Thrasher; great-grandson Christopher Matthew Thrasher; and great-granddaughter Madison Renee Thrasher. Barbara is also survived by five sisters: Freddie Davis and husband Chris of Dayton, Ohio; Joyce Cooper and husband Sherman of Hermitage, Tennessee; Geneva Whitaker of Randalman, North Carolina; Billie Stewart and husband Don of Dayton, Ohio; Maxine Langley of Chattanooga, TN.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October15,2011 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright. Funeral Services will follow with Bro. Herb Judkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunbright Cemetery in Sunbright, Tennessee.
