Alvis Caylor

Alvis "Al" Caylor, a Morgan County resident, died in the Roane Medical
Center ER on Monday, January 1 , 2011. Al was born on 04/09/50; he grew up on a farm in Monroeville, Ohio at the home of his foster parents, Louis and Agnes Pheiffer and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Peru, Ohio. He graduated from Monroeville (Ohio) High School in 1968, at which time he left to explore the country. He worked in service industries in the Midwest, in Hawaii, and in Florida. He moved to TN several years ago.
Al was preceded in death by his foster parents and by many other
members of his foster family.

He is survived by the following: half-brother, Jack A. Malean, with whom he shared a home in Mossy Grove
Aunt Bette Wolfram in Sandusky, Ohio.
foster sister, Ruth Ann Pheiffer Sabiers (R. French Leger)in
Santa Fe, NM; his nephew, Benjamin M. Sabiers in Brooklyn NY; and his
brother-in-law, Michael P. Sabiers, in Oberlin, Ohio.
his Leger nephews Macks in Seattle, WA; Silas in Honolulu, HI; and
Angus (Brieanna)in Portland, OR.
foster brother Richard A. Pheiffer (Marilyn), his niece Nickie
Schwan (Patrick) and his great-nephew Griffin Schwan in Norwalk, Ohio.
foster sister Patricia Pfanner (Henry)in Sandusky, Ohio; and
their sons Thom (Adriene Hupp)in Hanover, Germany; and Steve and David
in Oakwood Village, Ohio.
childhood friend, Steve Raftery, in Schumburg, IL; and his
adulthood friend, Denney Rush, in Ft. Myers, FL.
Al is also survived by many cousins from his foster family, including
his cousin Susan Dickman, her husband Joe and their children in
Summertown, TN - a family with whom he shared fond relationships.

Al struggled for many years with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
(COPD)and its disabling side effects, and he relied on care and
support from his many friends and neighbors; from his physicians and
the staff at his local medical centers; from therapists at the rehab
centers to which he was admitted and from the homecare agencies that
provided meals, therapy and nursing services; and from his pastor and
the congregation of his church. Jack A. Malean and Ruth A. Pheiffer
Sabiers would like to send our deepest thanks to all who provided support in his
time of illness.
Father Michael Sweeney, officiated at a Memorial mass for Al's Intentions at The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman, on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 and a Celebration of Al's life was held on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Angie's Restaurant in Wartburg, Tn. There will also be a memorial service for Al in August, in his home town in Ohio.
