Alice Freels Goodman went to her Heavenly home on June 4, 2022. She was born September 7, 1937 to John and Verdia Freels on top of Windrock Mountain where her father was a coal miner. She came from a large family of 21 children.
She is preceded by her husband John Henry Goodman, her daughter Pat Goodman Jones, granddaughter Jessica Shoopman and siblings Elizabeth, R.V. , Leonard, Lonas, Betty, Linda, Shelby Jean, Viola, Jo Ann, Blanche, Mary, Gladys, Jess, Nannie, Annie, Frank, Abbie, and Earl.
Alice is survived by her daughter Brenda Goodman Burress and son in law Lonnie Burress of Joyner, TN.
Alice is also survived by two sisters: Bessie Gilmore of Harriman, TN and Ethel Ward of Oliver Springs, TN, granddaughters Crystal and Monica Jones, Brooke Goodman and several nieces and nephews.
In her earlier years, Alice raised her five children on Windrock Road where she enjoyed farming with cattle, pigs, ducks, chickens and growing a large garden. She was known to be an excellent shot with a rifle and any predators after her animals didn’t stand a chance. She was a terrific cook and made wonderful cakes and pies with her fresh eggs.
The last few years she enjoyed her weekly outings with her daughter Brenda. She enjoyed eating a good fried baloney sandwich and visiting Windrock. She looked forward to her visits with her son in law Lonnie and getting her milkshakes from Sonic.
Mrs. Goodman was laid to rest beside her husband at Butler Cemetery, Oliver Springs surrounded by those who truly loved her and made her last years on earth as happy as possible.
Her daughter would like to thank her special cousin Amanda Miles Foust for her support.
Brenda and Lonnie would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Life Care Center of Morgan County for their care.
We also would like to thank Schubert Funeral Home for their assistance.
