Ruth Kreis, of Wartburg, TN

Kreis, Ruth Louise (née Headrick) December 15, 1924- February 6, 2018

Ruth died peacefully, early Monday morning.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Johnny Kreis in 2003.

Ruth was dearly loved by her children Louis ‘L.E.’ (and wife Betty S.), Brenda (and the late Jack Watters), Johnny Ray (and wife Sharon), Betty Ann, Richard, Tina (and husband Sherman Shannon), Timmy (and wife Donna), and Tammy (and husband Keith Gibson). Ruth took great pleasure in enjoying time with her grandchildren: Wayne and Misty Kreis; Lisa, Keith, Stacy (Elrod), and Megan (Armes) Watters; Brandy, Kelly, Tiffany (Carr), and Alicia (Shelby) Kreis; Jamie, Jessica (Vincent), Shaina (Kilby), Nicole (Spurling) and Logan Kreis; Hillary Webb; Michael, Kelsie (Strand), and Aiden Kreis; and Derek Gibson. Ruth had continued to share her warmth and love for her growing family with twenty-two great-grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Ruth is also survived by one sister Faye Ruppe, sister-in-law’s Faye Headrick, and Eileen Sackett; brother-in-law’s Joe Zumstein, Herbert Honeycutt, Martin ‘M.C.’ Kreis and Everett Kreis, as well as brother and sister-in-law Billy and Susie Kreis. She also leaves behind her best friend Deloris Heidle and her husband Louis.

Ruth was born in the Oakdale community of Camp Austin. Ruth was a loyal and loving wife to Johnny. At an early age she turned her energies into raising their children. Ruth was an avid seamstress making numerous quilts for her extended family. An excellent cook, Ruth’s kitchen was never closed to family or friends. She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens and her bountiful vegetable gardens, which she was always eager to share. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, and whose most significant passion was caring for her family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wartburg with Pastor David Graves officiating. Interment will follow in the Wartburg Cemetery in Wartburg.  If you wish, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, St Paul Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice in her honor.

She leaves us rich in memories and love.
